Dominik Stauch (CH) – Off the Road

In the last years Dominik Stauch consistently worked on the “extension” of painting by combining different media (oil painting, digital prints, computer animations, installations and sculptures), sticking to the color and form theory. The reduction to geometrical basic form is giving him the needed scope to harmonize his conceptual approach to the latest techniques. He playfully keeps breaking rigid concepts and provokes fascinating situations of dialog, for example with the aid of furs or old pieces of furniture. Art history and music theory of the 20th century are offering him the required basis to fill his works with the familiar profoundness. On the on hand the artist is treating his role models with an earnest, almost affectionate-respectful approach, on the other hand he is able to keep the distance and to face them with a needed hint of humor.
